Not as good as Call of Duty
This game is OK. There are no major flaws in it. The squad control element gets a bit tedious at times. While it is fairly easy to give commands to your squads, they don't always follow them well. When members of the squd die they usually just re-appear for the next mission. This dosn't help make the game feel real. I think Call of Duty did a better job drawing the player in and making them feel like they were really in WWII.
The combat in Brothers In Arms is not bad, it's just not great. One thing I was pleased to see is that while aiming a rifle it moves slightly just like in real life. I did feel that it was a bit too inaccurate, but this is a nice feature that should be implemented in more shooters. Also crouching did not seem to improve the aim any. Another nice feature was after trying a mission a number of times it offers to heal and start from the last checkpoint.
In mutliplayer there are 1-2 real players per team, and AI players as well. There are goals set at the beginning of a round for each side. Similar to Counter Strike. If you join after the round has started you get to watch and wait until a new round starts. If you are killed you can take over one of your AI players. Online play is not as fun as Call of Duty for me, although it would be good for LAN play.
I gave this game 3 stars because it is a decent playable game. It is not terrible, but not great. If you are looking for a WWII gaming experience buy Call of Duty. If you already have Call of Duty, and are looking for something new, wait a while for the price to go down on this one.
