I can't speak to the copy protection issues addressed elsewhere other than to say CMX hasn't had a fraction of a problem with my off-brand DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive.

The best out there, but can be irritating
I agree with all comments that this program is completely irritating on a laptop. At least the "need to have a cd" problem can be solved -- after installation go to www.gameburnworld.com and get a more user-friendly modified file. Really solved the problem... more

Not as good as advertised
Approximately two weeks ago, I received the updated version of the popular program. I have played with it quite a bit, used the various features, etc.

Do not purchase
Purchased Chessmaster 10th for 12yr old, installed it Christmas Eve. It actually let me select the players but would never go pass the login screen. I uninstalled and re-installed it twice but it never worked. Waste of time and money!!! Any suggestions... more

Won't install in my new computer
Got a brand new Dell, Chessmaster 10 won't install.
Returned it. got Fritz.. much better.. no problems.

Software that dictates what's on your system!!!!
If you buy this game legally you will be treated like a pirate. UbiSoft has no respect for their customers. You must play the game with CD1 in the CD player even though it installed everything onto the hard drive during installation. The purpose for this... more

tough to use
Chess playing is as great as ever for chessmaster. the problem is that the program bogs down your whole system. I constantly freeze up during games being unable to continue. Do not recommend the PC version.
