Great Game ....so far I recently upgraded my system and was looking for a good FPS. I read multiple reviews of Far Cry, Doom 3, and Half Life 2. After hearing of the server problems with Half Life and the potential incompatability of Far Cry with some CD-RW drives I went with Doom. I'm several hours into the game....wow. By now you've read about all of the "problems". Yes the game is dark. And yes you have to switch from your flashlight to your weapon rapidly at times. But isn't that the point? Doom is supposed to be an experience, dark and frightening. And so far it is. Instead of just blasting away you have to think. Lure the badies out into the light. They will follow! The experience of being attacked in the dark is what makes the game frightening. Yes, the AI is not that good, particularly with the lower level creatures. But they are MINDLESS DEMONS. The more powerful creatures are tough. And surprise is usually on their side. The graphics are amazing. Take some time (when you can) to take in the amazing sights of the Mars base. I found myself stopping and staring often. The anxiety level is fantastic. The sound effects are chilling. The story told through other characters PDAs is good. The game is great. You won't be dissappointed. (Note: I haven't finished the game yet.)
