Fun and Challenging First Person Shooter

I really enjoyed this game.

It is difficult to the point of being irritating at times, but to the game's credit it inspired me to play certain sections over and over until I solved them. Parts that I thought were simply impossible were overcome by a change in strategy and approach, which made them all the more satisfying.

That is perhaps the best thing about the game (aside from the graphics)--multiple ways exist to beat it.

However, nothing that I have seen beats the visuals of Far Cry. Other games have graphics engines of similar quality, but none has the environment of Far Cry. The sun, the jungle, the beaches, THE WATER, the day/dusk/night/dawn cycle, and the realistic and varied bird and insect sounds really make for an immersive experience. The inside levels, which admittedly are numerous, are much more generic than the outside ones.

On a final note, I installed the game using an NEC ND-3520A DVD R/W drive and did not encounter any issues whatsoever. I was up and playing in a matter of minutes. I guess whatever protection UbiSoft has implemented is selective in its enforcement.
