good if you have not played Far Cry - keyword: LINEAR!!!
When I played it for the first time, I was amazed. There are a lot of cool things in the game, all mentioned already in other reviews.
But then, a few hours into the game, you begin to realize that it is painfully linear!!! You are like a little rat in the maze, but there is no maze, just one way to go, everything else is just a backdrop! If you are in the river, and you see this nice shoreline, and buildings, gues what? You can't get there, you can only do it ONE WAY!
It's so incredibly disappointing!
Somehow I could not get over this linearity - it is 2005, it is a good game, but why, why, why???... Then I read some reviewers mention Far Cry...
I got it, and I was blown away - compared to Half Life 2 it looks and plays like it's a game just released!
It's NOT linear! It looks great! And every time you play you can try a different strategy. There are locations you need to get to, but there are MANY ways to get to them! Even indoor parts usually have a few options to choose from.
The only problem w/ FR is saving, but a mode fixes that.
After seeing Far Cry, HL2 is just sitting in the box.
Cheers.
