Much more than I expected! All I can say is WOW!!!! I have Shogun: Total War, and I only played the campaign once, and a couple dozen skirmish battles before I tired of the game. I was worried that I'd feel the same about Rome: Total War, but boy was I wrong! This game is so fun to play, and not just the skirmish mode, but the campaign mode is awesome. You can play other cultures as well; like the Greeks, Gauls, etc.... The battles are so fun to play. I love a line of Spartan Hoplites arrayed in a line while being supported by missle cavalry and archers. On my flanks I position my heavy cavalry as well as in the rear to plug any gaps. My line totally shuts down the Romans, and makes me wonder what it really would've been like to see the Spartans in their prime, fight an equal sized Roman army. I think they could've won, and won soundly! If you tried the earlier two Total War games, and found them to be too boring, please reconsider on this one. There is no comparison!
