Fun & Addictive - Not Difficult
I just bought this game and already am addicted. I do agree with some of the other people's gripes about the repetitive nature of the game - there are several places where the animation and sequence of character interaction is identical and could be mixed... more

Good for some strange reason...
I am not sure why I like this game as much as I do. I started playing this game before it was reviewed in any magazines, and I remember thinking to myself "this is not that good a game, but I like it a lot anyway... kinda makes me feel dumb...". Then... more

Repetative
It's a great "pirate" game, and if all you want is to feel like a pirate for an hour, I'd highly recommend it. The plot is weak and not worth playing through as the game becomes mind-numbingly repetative and boring. After a week of off-and-on... more

A Great Classic Game
This game uses a good mix of the historical and the mythical to bring to life a time and place where Pirates abound. The progress of the game is entirely up to you. You can sail anywhere in the Caribbean fighting, saving, looting, or romancing whomever... more

In my opinion, this game deserves ALL the awards
This is simple but addictive game, and unlike other bestselling PC games, it's neither a horror first person shooter with ton of gore or Real Time Strategy which usualy makes you labor instead of play and have fun in order to win.

It's easy... more

Can't get it to work
I have a ATI Radeon 7500 Video Card w/64Mb but the game quits
in port with a VPU Recover message: Graphics no longer responding to driver commands. What the heck is T&L compatible?

I guess this would be a nice game if I could get it... more

Disappointed
I enjoy Pirate games. I have Sea Dogs but not the newer version. When I saw that Pirates came out, I waited to see the reviews. So I went out and bought the game and have found it to be very disappointing. I find that the game is very repetitive, I find... more

Awesome
I played the original Pirates way back in the day and hoped this one would live up to the old one. It has! Pirates is absolutely fun. The game mixes new graphics and keeps the simplistic fun of the old game. Really fun. You can trade, plunder towns, find... more

AAARGH
This be one of me favorite games, but it needs a few tweaks. Land battles too slow, Daning a pain, towns repetitious, but pirating is still the life for me. It be good with a patch or an expansion pack, then 5 stars may Sid Meier receive.

My Life As A Video Game
Being a pirate myself, I was excited to see that a game had finally been made to show the public what it is like to be me.

I got a hook for a hand, two peglegs(screw those losers with only one pegleg), and one sexy long beard. I pillage... more

Fun for the first weekend . . . but not much more
Even though I wasn't one of the die-hards who played the original Pirates, I got swept into the magic of this game nonetheless. Indeed, it is highly addictive and entertaining for the first few days of steady playing. Going through the learning curve... more

A Good Rebirth of the Old
I remember playing Sid Meyer's Pirates years ago. I spent many an hour in college playing Pirates when I should have been studying physics or chemistry. I was elated when I heard that Pirates was being updated. I hadn't played Pirates in eleven years... more

Just like on my old C64... but better!
I should probably preface this by saying that I played the original C64 version of this game a LOT. This takes a lot of the same aspects of the original and improves on them while adding a lot of new things to the game. It is INCREDIBLY addictive (if... more

Sid Meier has done it again
Sid Meier is a genius. Whenever you see his name on the front of a computer game box, you know the game is going to keep one philosophy in mind: Fun first. It's a GAME.

Happily, that philosophy is in full effect for Sid Meier's Pirates!.... more

uhhhhhh!
I got this game with the purchase of my new computer last week. I am already too addicted to do much else. I agree that the clips are a bit repetitive, but I was very impressed with the aging of my character. I have learned how to tack to fight against... more

Sid Meier's Pirates
'Sid Meier's Pirates! Live the Life' is an expensive game. It was thus a shock to find the discs in a card folder instead of the customary protective box. Worse came when I played my first game and found the characters speaking in gobbledygook. I found... more

Fun At First, But Then...
I realy love adventure games so i got this one.
It seemed very fun and exiting at first.
But then later on it gets kinda boring.
Also as many people said, it has quite a few problems.
Although I had only 1 problem, my friend had... more

Repetitious Pirating
I'll state it right up front; Sid Meier is a game making genius. Civ II is perhaps the greatest game of all time. So what happened? Civ III was fatally flawed and now Pirates looks like a huge misfire. I love the whole pirate concept, I love sailing around... more

Aaarrrrr! Shivers! Me wrists are sore!
This is easily the most addictive game I've played ... ever. Is it repetitive? You bet. But is the fun worth that? You bet. I too had problems with it quitting and going back to the desktop but that was when I ran it from my desktop shortcut. If I start... more
