Fun but... Grinding, Grinding, Grinding

This game is amazing because of all the great variety you have. It really does immerse you into the Star Wars universe. You can be an imperial bounty hunter with an array of stormtrooper servants ready to kill anything that moves, you can be a rebel medic healing the wounded soldiers in the Galactic Civil War, you can be a neutral droid engineer selling attack droids to the highest paying customer. Whatever you want in the Star Wars galaxy, you can have. I am giving it alot of praise for not owning the game anymore. There are a few reasons I gave up the game though. But before I say any of this, anyone who is thinking about buying the game and is a Star Wars fan, Do It! It's a great game but just doesn't suit my tastes enough. Anyways,

1. This is true in most MMORPG's so this isn't just a negative for this game. I love Role Playing. That's why I like D&D so much. There is a lack of people in this game that will Role Play at all. I find myself among people who just seem to treat their character as a microphone for themselves rather then pretending to be in the Star Wars Galaxy. But there are a few people who will stay in game and talk like they were that character, but very few.

2. Like I said before, Grinding, Grinding, Grinding. This game really does involve alot of doing the same thing over and over and over. Some people like doing that though. But for others, it's not so fun. Take the artisan for instance. Although there are quite a few things you can build to begin with, most require resources and tools that are sometimes hard to find, and therefore, you are found building the same thing over and over and gaining little experience each item.

3. It can be hard to find a group of willing individuals to tackle a quest. Every so often, you might receive a random invite from someone, but it's rare. You have to start making alot of in game friends to get a chance at having an epic group battle. But I do remember a fun time that I had in SWG one time. I was in a Rebel city on Tattoine (spelling?) which was totally populated with Rebels. So naturally, I became one. One day, a large group of imperial forces accompanied by stormtroopers and AT-ST's attacked the city (I'm sure just to see how long they could last.) It was wicked fun seeing the creatures that can be trained by Rebel Creature Handlers take on the AT-ST's, and seeing all the lasers flying everywhere from Rebel and Imperial forces. I died about 4 times in that hour or so.

So, I'm barely against SWG but enough to turn me off and make me not want to pay $15 a month. That's pretty much money.
