"Galaxies" extremely boring
For months I've wanted to experience SW Galaxies. I gave the game a try for 8 hours yesterday. That was all I needed to know that Galaxies feels old and tired. I beta-tested {EDIT} recently, and so obviously I found myself comparing this to Galaxies. SW Galaxies is inferior in many ways compared to {EDIT}.
For starters, the system requirements to play Galaxies are still too high. WoW ran very smoothly, whereas I thought Galaxies was a little 'clunky' and 'choppy'. Selecting missions in Galaxies is an extremely tedious task, done not by interacting with NPCs, but with stupid terminals. The rewards given after completing missions were too 'cheap' and the missions themselves were simply ill-conceived. I found that skills were hard to develop and opportunities to increase skills and experience points were too few. I absolutely hated the entire interface and the in-game controls. Too much reading is required: together with the interface (the Holocron/Help) and interacting with the terminals and talking to the NPCs, I did more reading than in any of the 'Myst' games!
{EDIT} Galaxies is tedious, boring, clunky, and even too complicated. One comment here on amazon.com was that SW Galaxies didn't feel like 'Star Wars'. I totally agree. As a fan of 'Star Wars', I was disappointed.
