The Sims 2 Won't Disappoint You
Whoever said that The Sims 2 was a waste of money was dead wrong. It was worth every penny. Have you noticed that most of the people who rated TS2 low had some technical problems? So this has nothing to do with the game. Slow gameplay and installation issues are your computer's fault, not the game's fault.
Speaking of tech specs. The Sims 2 runs smoothly on my Dell laptop with 512 MB of RAM and ATI Radeon x300 Graphics card with 64 MB of dedicated memory. Yes, I bought a new laptop mainly for The Sims 2, but I will also use it for college in the fall. I installed the DVD edition because it is only one disc and also a bonus disc with interviews from the creators. Installation took less than 15 minutes and the game took less than 5 seconds to load (much faster than Sims 1). The only time I experience any slowness is loading into lots and the wait is less than 30 seconds (if you call that slow).
The features on TS2 make it 100 times better than the original. Even with the expansion packs I got easily bored with Sims 1 because of repetitiveness and things got old quickly. In TS2, the possibilites are endless. The houses look more realistic, the Sims have facial expressions and more social interactions, the Sims grow, there are better interactions with objects... I could honestly go on and on page after page telling you how great this game is. THE GRAPHICS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!
I recommend that anyone who has a decent computer with a good video card to purchase The Sims 2. Play the tutorials also, they help and I also bought Prima TS2 Strategy Guide Book <--- an enormous help. I am excited to play University Expansion pack and the other expansion packs to come.
