Tournament Poker 2005: Collector's Edition
|
Publisher: Eagle Games
Features:
-
Whether you are playing in poker tournaments during your local poker night, at a nearby card room, in Las Vegas or preparing for the grand-daddy of them all, the World Series of Poker, Donohoe Digital Poker is for you!
-
No other poker software lets you practice your tournament skills and experience what the pro's do as well as manage your local poker night no-limit holdem tournaments. Donohoe Digital Poker is easy to use, has beautiful graphics and features an advanced learning AI.
-
Unlike online casinos where you have to risk real money or use "play money" tables where the opponents don't necessarily act rationally, Donohoe Digital Poker lets you hone your skills against computer opponents who behave as if there is something at stake. This doesn't mean they are completely predictable or incapable of bluffing. However, they will give you better practice than the play money tables.

A disappointment I bought this and played in several of the 40-player tournaments, winning one of them and finishing second in another. The program does a good job of making the experience fun and easy, and there are some nice features that you can turn on or off as... more
Enjoyable I'm really enjoying this game. I do wish it could be networked with other players...but for $20 it is a great buy.
more
For Practice Only - Too frustrating to really enjoy It's a good game to experiment with strategies. But I can't stand it when I go "all in" and half the other players call me, even the ones that don't even have a pair, and I wind up losing to a straight or a flush at the river. Incidently, I think that... more
For $20 it's a good deal but some AI flaws Solid game for $20. I play with opponents at the hardest level and beat the 10 person $1000 tournement 30-40% of the time. Opponents bluff, semibluff, bully, and check-raise. I don't see the computer slow play very often. I have seen players make... more
great value and great fun It's very user friendly. It occasionally makes strange (ie stupid) calls, but it's an excellent and fun way to learn and practise the game, especially if you might be interested in later playing internet poker.
more
not suitable for real Hold'em training It's cheap and a nice interface and fun to play, but I was beating the AI players from the start, and I'm a new Hold'em player. I increased the player strength but now that I have some casino experience (lost $100 first visit, won $500+ the second visit)... more
Save yourself a load of money Save yourself a load of money
Imagine that now, in the 21st century, you can actually sit down in front of your PC and learn in the space of a week what a lifelong poker player could not throughout their entire career. I will put this much... more
DD Tournament Poker is IMHO the best poker sim software Currently, there are four 'legit' poker sim software apps out there, DDTP being one of them. IMHO, DDTP is overall the best one, hands down.
Originally, there were only two-Acespade and turbo poker.
The former, Acespade, has DOS-like graphics,... more
Hokey at best... I really put a lot of faith into the reviews I read about this game before purchasing it. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. The AI is absolutely horrible. I set the options to show the hands the players were playing with at the end and was amazed... more
An Enjoyable Way to Rack up Mounds of Practice Hands Given the recent resurgance of poker's (specifically Texas Hold 'Em) popularity, many people are looking to try their own skill online, at home games and in casinos. Many of these people will soon discover that it's easy to play poker poker from the... more
Best Computer Game I Own! I have searched the internet for the best Texas Hold-em software and came up with Turbo Poker for $90-$100 and it seemed to be the only one that had the features I wanted. I want to be able to set up tournaments like the pro's play. Yet I wasn't willing... more
Texas Hold'em This is a great game that teaches you the fundamentals of Texas Hold'em and helps you develop winning strategies. The game is easy to work with and very user friendly with challenging computer opponents. I strongly recommend it.
more
ALL IN! There aren't a whole lot of options when you're looking to play No Limit Texas Hold 'Em, which surprises me given the increasing popularity of the game. I've been playing online for over a year now, but the only "play money" games I can find are of the... more
great learning tool this game will teach you the proper way to play no limit texas hold'em. i have read other reviews where people say that this game is not accurate b/c the computer players dont check raise, re raise, etc. totally inaccurate, i have the game on the medium... more
Best Buy For The Money I used to play a very good DOS version of Hold 'em years ago. Since then I've searched for a good Windows game. After buying and chucking about 10 other poker "games" (Bicycle, Hoyle, etc.), I finally found a decent computer Hold 'em program.
more
Worth the ante
I've had the game only about a week but I think I can give a pretty accurate opinion.
It's exactly what I wanted in a poker simulator with one caveat.
It's simple to learn. Basic but not bland graphics and fun to play.... more
Version 1.0 Buyer beware Installed on a relatively new, name-brand computer, specifically designed to support game software, this program crashed within 5 minutes. The program has great graphics and a long list of features but crashing on a winning hand definitely takes the... more
The new solitaire - a woman's perspective I originally bought this program for my husband since he watches it on TV all the time, but now he has to fight me to play it. I can spend hours playing the game and often find myself yelling at the other "players" for their cunning moves. I think the... more
Fun -- but not a learning tool I've had a lot of fun playing this the past couple of weeks. But if you're looking for real practice playing Texas Hold 'Em against skilled (virtual) opponents, this isn't a good choice. My evidence: It took me SIX TRIES to LOSE in heads-up tournament... more
An Easy to Learn Poker Game and Pretty Darn Fun! I've never been a big card player, generally limiting my playing to occaisional games of solataire, spades and blackjack on my Hoyle card games and casino software. But like many others, I have been suckered into Texas Hold 'Em from watching the myriad... more
